Overview

This Manager Trainee (Summer 2027) role with our confidential client in Van Buren, OH is an entry-level management training position in Supply Chain / Logistics. You will be trained to manage small driver counts and non-traditional shifts, support safe and timely freight movement, ensure DOT compliance, and build strong relationships with drivers, carriers, customers, and operations teams.


What You’ll Do

  • Learn to manage driver schedules, non-traditional shifts (nights/weekends), and small fleet operations.
  • Support load assignment, routing, monitoring and on-time delivery for customer accounts.
  • Train and orient drivers and other personnel on internal and customer systems.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to reduce turnover and improve productivity.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including payroll, invoicing, P&L review, and operational reporting.
  • Participate in yard management and coordinate preventative maintenance and safety-related repairs.
  • Support incident reviews, driver counseling, and ensure adherence to DOT and company safety regulations.
  • Cover for absent personnel and contribute to special projects to improve operations and profitability.
  • Travel to account or customer locations as required and be available for on-call situations when assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED plus 1 year of relevant experience (management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management) or equivalent military experience.
  • Ability to work multiple shifts (including nights/weekends) and willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred

  • Prior experience supervising or managing a team.
  • Strong conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
  • Analytical ability to review KPIs, P&L, and operational data.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Ability to adapt to changing operational environments and resolve process or organizational problems.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $51,719.85 per year (as provided by our confidential client). Factors that may affect starting pay include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications.
  • This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes, per company plans.
  • Benefits for full-time employees may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, short- and long-term disability, paid time off (vacation and sick), parental leave, and paid holidays — subject to eligibility.
