Role Overview
This Manager Trainee role trains entry-level candidates to manage small driver counts and non-traditional shifts while learning fleet operations, routing, and DOT compliance. The position focuses on hands-on logistics and supply chain fundamentals, driver and carrier relationships, safety, and basic operational administration. You will be employed by a confidential client in the Logistics & Warehouse industry.
What You’ll Do
- Learn to assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight movement to deliver safe, on-time service
- Support load assignment and manage driver ETAs, freight exceptions, and routing changes
- Build and maintain professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers; assist with new carrier setup
- Train and onboard drivers and support staff; assist with internal and customer systems
- Learn to manage inventory, account assets, and driver/vehicle assignments to balance equipment in the market
- Perform administrative tasks including payroll support, invoicing, P&L analysis, and operational reporting
- Support yard management: inspect equipment, coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance with maintenance teams
- Assist with safety programs and DOT compliance activities: daily safety messages, briefings, training, and policy enforcement
- Fill in for absent personnel and contribute to continuous improvement projects to optimize fleet profitability and performance
- Liaise with customers, drivers, and company personnel to resolve service, mechanical, and accessorial pay issues
Qualifications
Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of related experience (management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management), or equivalent military experience
- Ability to work multiple shifts including nights and weekends when required
- Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company events and to regionally relocate depending on account assignment
Preferred
- Experience managing a team or supervising staff
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to analyze data and present operational or financial reports
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to build and maintain vendor, driver, and customer relationships
- Comfortable adapting to changing environments and handling operational conflicts constructively
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: $51,719.85 (reported compensation for this role). Factors that may affect starting pay include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications.
- May be eligible for annual bonus and incentive programs tied to profitability or volume.

Work Location & Schedule
- Location: Saint Bernard, OH
- Employment type: Full-time; internship opportunities may be part of the program depending on assignment
- Schedule: May include non-traditional shifts (nights and weekends); regional travel and relocation may be required by account assignment
