Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Manager Trainee (Paid Training) to learn fleet and operations management for a small driver pool and/or non‑traditional shifts. This hands‑on training role prepares you to support safe, on‑time freight movement, DOT compliance, load planning, and driver management while working with internal teams, drivers, customers, and third‑party carriers.


Key responsibilities

  • Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to support onboarding, reduce turnover, and improve productivity
  • Train and support drivers and staff on internal and customer systems; fill in for absent personnel as needed
  • Assist in planning, routing, assigning loads, and monitoring freight to meet customer requirements and on‑time delivery goals
  • Support DOT and company safety compliance, including driver briefings, safety communications, and documentation
  • Learn to analyze performance metrics, create and present customer reports, and recommend continuous improvements
  • Help manage yard operations and coordinate preventative maintenance with maintenance teams
  • Support administrative tasks such as payroll, invoicing, P&L review, driver counseling, accident reviews, and resolving pay or service issues
  • Travel to customer/account sites and represent Confidential Client in face‑to‑face customer interactions when required

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with ≥1 year relevant experience (management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management), or equivalent military experience
  • Ability to work multiple shifts including nights and weekends as needed
  • Willingness to travel to customer/account locations and regionally relocate depending on account assignment
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.; this position is not eligible for employment‑based sponsorship

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience managing or supervising a team
  • Strong problem‑solving, conflict‑resolution, and decision‑making skills
  • Ability to analyze operational situations and make productive recommendations
  • Adaptability to changing environments and customer needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customers, vendors, and peers
  • Familiarity with fleet operations, inventory/asset management, and basic financial reporting

Compensation & benefits

  • Expected starting pay range: $53,000 - $66,200 per year. Actual starting pay may vary based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other job‑related factors.
  • This role may be eligible for annual bonuses or incentives per company plans.
  • Benefits for eligible full‑time employees may include medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k); life insurance; short‑ and long‑term disability; paid time off (vacation and sick leave); paid parental leave; and paid holidays.

Location & schedule

  • Location: Commerce, CA (on‑site / account‑based; travel to customer locations required as assigned)
  • Schedule: May require nights, weekends, and on‑call coverage depending on account needs
