About the Role

Confidential Client is hiring a Manager Trainee to join a logistics and warehouse operations team supporting regional fleet and driver management. This entry-level management role is designed to provide hands-on training across driver relations, DOT compliance, routing and dispatch, yard operations, basic financial and payroll administration, and customer-facing account support.


What You’ll Do

  • Learn to manage a small driver fleet and/or non-traditional shifts (including nights and weekends), ensuring safe, on-time freight movement and customer service excellence.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to support onboarding, reduce turnover, and maximize productivity.
  • Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight movement, and manage freight exceptions and driver ETAs.
  • Support driver training, orientation, and compliance with DOT and company safety policies.
  • Assist with yard operations: inspect equipment, coordinate preventative maintenance, and track asset allocation.
  • Perform administrative tasks including payroll support, invoice/operational reporting, driver counseling, accident reviews, and basic P&L analysis.
  • Participate in special projects to optimize fleet operations, measure key performance indicators, and present customer-specific reporting and recommendations.
  • Work with drivers, customers, and internal teams to resolve daily service, routing, and mechanical issues — including on-call coverage when required.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field OR High School Diploma/GED plus 1 year of related experience (management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience).
  • Willingness to work multiple shifts (including nights/weekends) and travel to customer/account locations as needed.
  • Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing or supervising a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills; ability to analyze operations and recommend improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with drivers, clients, and vendors.
  • Comfortable adapting to changing environments and priorities.
  • Experience with basic financial or operational reporting and KPIs is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Expected starting pay range: $46,100.00 - $57,600.00 per year. Factors that may affect starting pay include skills, education, experience, geography, and other candidate qualifications.
  • Eligible for annual bonus/incentives based on profitability or volume, where applicable.
  • Benefits for full-time employees (subject to eligibility): medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, short- and long-term disability, paid time off based on tenure (vacation/sick), six weeks paid maternity leave + two weeks paid parental leave, and six paid holidays annually.
