What You’ll Do

Under general supervision, you will learn to manage a small driver group and/or non‑traditional shifts (including nights and weekends) to ensure the safe, timely movement of freight. This Manager Trainee role in Modesto, CA provides hands-on training in fleet operations, route planning, DOT compliance, and customer service.

• Learn to assign loads, plan and route freight, and monitor deliveries to meet customer requirements and on‑time performance.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to support onboarding, reduce turnover, and improve productivity.
• Support driver training, orientation, and use of internal and customer systems.
• Assist with payroll, basic P&L review, invoicing, reporting, and other administrative tasks.
• Help manage yard operations, equipment inspections, coordination with maintenance, and basic repairs as needed.
• Participate in safety programs (daily messages, monthly briefings, quarterly training) and help enforce company DOT and safety policies.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects aimed at improving fleet efficiency and profitability.

Qualifications

Minimum

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent education/experience.
• Currently enrolled in or working toward a degree program (up to 2 years) OR Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
• Willingness to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends and to travel to customer, account, or company events as needed.
• This position is not eligible for employment‑based sponsorship.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or equivalent education/experience in supply chain, logistics, or business administration.

Compensation & Benefits

• Expected starting pay: $48,400 - $60,500 per year (starting pay may vary based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications).
• Employment type: Full‑time; opportunities may include contract or internship arrangements per role posting.
• Eligible for bonus/incentives depending on profitability or volumes and plan terms.
