What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Manager Trainee to learn and support regional fleet and supply‑chain operations. This is a hands-on role designed to develop frontline management skills in driver relations, routing, yard operations, DOT compliance, and basic P&L/operational reporting.
- Learn to assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight movement to deliver safe, on‑time service.
- Train and build positive working relationships with drivers and approved outside carriers; support onboarding and retention.
- Monitor driver compliance with DOT and company safety policies; participate in accident reviews and driver counseling.
- Support yard operations — inspect equipment, coordinate maintenance, and ensure preventative maintenance schedules are met.
- Assist with administrative duties such as payroll support, invoicing, resolving pay issues, and maintaining operational and financial reports.
- Track KPIs, help produce customer reporting and financial analysis, and recommend process improvements to increase profitability and efficiency.
- Fill in for absent personnel and lead or support special projects to optimize operations.
- Be available for occasional on‑call needs and to work across multiple shifts including nights/weekends as required.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements — one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR
- High school diploma/GED plus 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.
Required skills & expectations:
- Willingness to travel to account/customer locations and to regionally relocate depending on assignment.
- Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends when required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with drivers, customers, and peers.
- Ability to analyze operational issues and make productive decisions using informed judgment.
- Comfortable learning and using internal and third‑party systems.
Preferred:
- Prior experience managing a team or supervising drivers.
- Experience with DOT regulations, fleet operations, or inventory/asset management.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt in changing environments and resolve operational problems.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated pay shown on source posting: $70,452 per year (estimate); actual starting pay may vary based on skills, education, experience, and geography.
- This role may be eligible for annual bonuses or incentives tied to profitability or volume per company plans.
- Typical full‑time benefits include: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability, paid time off (accrual based on tenure), parental leave options, and paid holidays — subject to eligibility and plan terms.
Shift: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00 (may vary by account).
