Position Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Manager Trainee (January 2026 start) to learn day-to-day management of a small driver group and/or non-traditional shifts (including nights and weekends). This training role focuses on fleet operations, DOT compliance, load assignment, and customer service. The role includes hands-on training in safety, routing, reporting, and administrative operations to prepare you for frontline management in a logistics environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to support new carrier onboarding and reduce turnover
  • Support fleet operations by filling in for absent personnel and contributing to projects that improve operational efficiency and profitability
  • Assist with personnel management tasks, including driver orientation, training, and support for customer/internal systems
  • Learn to monitor and improve key performance indicators and support customer-specific reporting and financial analysis
  • Support inventory, asset, and driver assignment activities to balance equipment and resources across accounts
  • Perform administrative duties under supervision (payroll support, budget tracking, driver counseling documentation, incident reviews, invoicing, and reporting)
  • Assist with yard management tasks, basic equipment checks, coordinating maintenance, and ensuring safety repairs are completed
  • Help resolve service, routing, and mechanical issues as they arise and provide on-call support when required
  • Support and reinforce the Company’s safety culture (daily safety messages, briefings, training, reviews) and help enforce company and DOT safety requirements
  • Learn to assign loads, plan routing, and monitor freight movement to deliver safe, on-time service and handle freight exceptions

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED plus 1 year relevant experience (management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management), or equivalent military experience
  • Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company locations when needed
  • Ability to work multiple shifts including nights and weekends as required
  • Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment

  • Prior experience managing a team

  • Ability to analyze situations and make informed recommendations
  • Adaptability to changing environments and priorities

Shift & Employment Type

  • Typical shift: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00 (may vary by account)
  • Employment types indicated for this role: Full time / Contractor / Internship (as applicable by assignment)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated annual pay (source): $53,932 per year (estimated). Actual starting pay may vary based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications.
  • May be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes, where applicable.
  • Benefits for eligible full-time employees may include: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, short- and long-term disability, paid time off (vacation and sick leave), paid parental leave, and paid holidays. Benefit eligibility subject to plan rules and applicable waiting periods.
