Role overview

This Manager Trainee role (entry-level management track) supports fleet and account operations for a confidential client in the Logistics & Warehouse industry. You will be trained to manage a small driver count and/or non-traditional shifts (including nights and weekends), ensure DOT compliance, assign and monitor loads, and support customer service and operational reporting.

What You’ll Do

  • Learn day-to-day management of driver assignments, routing, and on-road freight monitoring to meet customer schedules and safety requirements.
  • Train with and enforce DOT and company safety/compliance standards for drivers and equipment.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with drivers, third‑party carriers, and customers to support reliable service and carrier setup.
  • Support personnel management tasks including orientation, training, and driver counseling.
  • Help manage yard operations: inspect equipment, coordinate maintenance, and support minor repairs.
  • Assist with administrative and financial tasks: payroll support, invoicing, P&L review, and creating operational or customer reports.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by tracking key performance indicators and recommending operational changes.
  • Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects focused on fleet optimization and profitability.
  • Be available for varied shifts (including nights/weekends) and travel to customer or account sites as needed.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field; OR High School Diploma/GED plus 1 year related experience (management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management), or equivalent military experience.
  • Willingness to work multiple shifts (including nights/weekends) and to regionally relocate depending on account assignment.
  • Willingness to travel to customer/account locations when required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build working relationships.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience managing a team or supervising staff.
  • Ability to analyze operational situations and make informed decisions.
  • Experience with DOT compliance, fleet operations, or inventory/asset management.
  • Comfortable working in a changing environment and handling operational exceptions.
  • Strong customer-service orientation and ability to represent the account in face-to-face interactions.

Compensation & benefits

  • Estimated pay (from source): $70,731 per year (estimated). Actual starting pay may vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors.
  • May be eligible for annual bonus or incentive pay based on profitability or volumes, per company plan.
