Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Manager Trainee to be cross-trained across fleet and supply chain operations. This entry-level management training role is designed for candidates who want hands-on experience in driver and carrier management, DOT compliance, load planning, and day-to-day operations of a logistics account. The role includes structured training, on-the-job coaching, and opportunities to support continuous improvement and reporting.
What You’ll Do
- Learn to manage a small driver count and/or non-traditional shifts (including nights and weekends) to ensure safe, on-time movement of freight.
- Support load assignment, routing, monitoring, and handling freight exceptions to meet customer requirements.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams to minimize turnover and maximize productivity.
- Assist with new carrier setup, driver training and orientation, and use of internal and customer systems.
- Support administrative tasks including payroll support, invoicing, basic P&L review, and preparation of operational/financial reports.
- Participate in yard and equipment management: inspections, coordinating preventative maintenance, and minor equipment repairs or part replacements.
- Learn to measure and present KPIs and customer-specific reporting, including face-to-face interactions at customer sites when required.
- Support safety initiatives: daily safety messages, monthly briefings, quarterly training, and DOT compliance activities.
- Fill in for absent personnel and work on projects aimed at improving fleet efficiency and profitability.
- Be available for on-call support as required to resolve routing, service, or mechanical issues.
Qualifications
Minimum qualification (required):
- High school diploma/GED OR currently enrolled in a degree program (or equivalent education/experience). Ability to work multiple shifts including nights/weekends when needed. Willingness to travel to account, customer, or company events as applicable.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus ~1 year of related experience in business administration, supply chain, transportation/logistics, customer service, or entry-level management.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain relationships with drivers, vendors, and customers.
- Good analytical and decision-making skills; able to interpret operational data and make recommendations.
- Adaptable to changing environments and priorities.
- Able to identify, anticipate, and resolve operational or process problems.
- Comfortable working in safety- and compliance-driven environments (DOT/regulatory focus).

Compensation & Benefits
- Expected starting pay: $46,200 – $69,300 per year (starting pay may vary based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications).
- May be eligible for annual bonus/incentives per company programs.

Location & Work Hours
- This opportunity is for the logistics/warehouse industry and will be based at the Confidential Client account location (local to Cudahy / South Gate, CA area per posting).
- Role may require multi-shift coverage (including nights/weekends) and occasional travel to customer or company event locations.
- Candidates should be prepared for on-call rotations as part of operational coverage.
