What You’ll Do

This entry-level Manager Trainee role trains you to manage small driver counts and non-traditional shifts (including nights and weekends) while ensuring safe, on-time freight movement and excellent customer service. You will be coached on DOT compliance, load assignment, routing, monitoring, and working with internal and external partners to meet customer expectations.

• Learn to assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight movement for safe, on-time delivery
• Train on DOT and company compliance, driver safety messaging, and safety briefings
• Support driver and carrier relationships to optimize capacity, reduce turnover, and onboard new carriers
• Assist with inventory, asset management, and driver assignments to balance equipment across the market
• Participate in yard management and basic equipment checks; coordinate preventative maintenance with technicians
• Support operational reporting: create and present customer-specific reports and financial analysis
• Perform administrative tasks under supervision (payroll support, invoicing, basic P&L review, driver counseling)
• Fill in for absent personnel and contribute to projects that improve fleet efficiency and profitability

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain professional relationships with drivers, customers, and third-party carriers
• Support training/orientation of drivers and employees and assist with customer systems
• Track KPIs, recommend process improvements, and prepare operational/financial reports
• Resolve service, routing, mechanical, and pay-related issues in collaboration with drivers and stakeholders
• Participate in on-call rotations when required to support operations

Qualifications

Minimum

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience); currently enrolled in or working toward a degree is acceptable
• Willingness to work across multiple shifts (including nights/weekends) and travel to customer/account locations when applicable

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree or coursework in Business, Supply Chain, Transportation, or related field, or equivalent experience (Bachelor’s + 1 year preferred)

Compensation & Benefits

• Expected starting pay: $46,200 – $69,300 per year (starting pay depends on skills, education, experience, location, and other qualifications)
• May be eligible for annual bonus/incentives based on profitability or volume per company plans
• Benefits for eligible full-time employees may include: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, short- and long-term disability, paid time off (vacation and sick), six weeks paid maternity leave plus two weeks paid parental leave, and six paid holidays annually

• Location: Cudahy, CA (on-site / location-based)
• Schedule: May require non-traditional shifts (nights/weekends) and occasional travel to customer or company events
