What You’ll Do
This Manager Trainee role is an entry-level leadership position within a logistics & warehouse environment. Under general supervision you will be trained to support day-to-day fleet and driver operations, learn DOT compliance, and develop the operational, administrative, and people-management skills needed to run a small driver pool or non-traditional shift (including nights and weekends).
- Learn to plan, route, assign loads, and monitor freight to ensure safe, on-time delivery.
- Support driver management, including orientation, training, counseling, and safety briefings.
- Assist with compliance activities to meet DOT and company safety standards.
- Help manage yard operations and basic equipment checks/repairs; coordinate preventative maintenance.
- Perform administrative duties: payroll support, invoicing, P&L review assistance, and operational reporting.
- Build and maintain relationships with drivers, external carriers, customers, and internal teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by tracking KPIs, analyzing performance, and proposing operational improvements.
- Fill in for absent personnel and assist on special projects that improve fleet efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications — candidates must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field; OR
- High School Diploma/GED plus at least 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, account management, business administration, or equivalent military experience.
Additional requirements:
- Willingness to work across multiple shifts (including nights and weekends) when needed.
- Ability and willingness to travel regionally to customer and company locations; may require regional relocation depending on account assignment.
- Strong attention to detail, reliable judgment, and commitment to safety and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience managing or supervising a team (even at a small scale).
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety programs.
- Analytical skills: able to read and interpret P&L and operational reports.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with drivers, vendors, and customers.
- Adaptability in changing operational environments and a continuous-improvement mindset.
- Internship or prior experience in transportation/logistics is a plus.
Compensation & Incentives
- Estimated annual pay (as provided in the source posting): $76,234 per year (estimated). Actual starting pay may vary based on skills, experience, education, and location.
- This role may be eligible for annual bonuses or incentive pay tied to profitability or volume metrics in accordance with the client’s incentive programs.
