What You’ll Do

This Manager Trainee role is a hands-on training position that prepares you to manage small driver rosters and non-traditional shifts (including nights and weekends). You will be trained in safe, compliant freight movement, load assignment, yard operations, and customer-facing reporting. Responsibilities include:

  • Learn to build and maintain strong professional relationships with drivers and reliable outside carriers to support onboarding, retention, and productivity
  • Support day-to-day routing, load assignment, and monitoring to ensure safe, on-time deliveries
  • Train on DOT and company compliance requirements and help maintain a strong safety culture
  • Assist with driver payroll, incident reviews, driver counseling, and resolving pay or accessorial issues
  • Help manage yard activities, perform basic equipment checks, and coordinate preventative maintenance with internal teams
  • Gather and present customer-specific operational and financial reports; measure and report on key performance indicators
  • Fill in for absent personnel and contribute to projects that improve fleet efficiency and profitability
  • Be available for on-call support and for traveling to customer or account locations as needed

Note: This role requires openness to working nights and/or weekends during the training program. Relocation at the end of the 1–6 month training program may be required depending on account assignment.


Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field — OR — High School Diploma/GED plus 1 year of related experience (management, transportation/logistics, account management, military experience accepted)
  • Ability to work multiple shifts (including nights/weekends) and travel regionally when required
  • Willingness to relocate regionally at the end of the training program if assigned

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing a team or supervising employees
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities with drivers, customers, and peers
  • Ability to analyze operational data and recommend process improvements
  • Comfortable adapting to changing environments and customer needs

Compensation & Benefits

  • Expected starting pay range: $50,700.00 - $63,400.00 per year.
  • Starting pay may vary based on skills, experience, education, geography, and other factors. This role may be eligible for annual bonuses or incentives per the client’s plans.
  • Benefits for full-time employees (subject to eligibility): medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, paid time off (vacation/sick), parental leave (maternity and parental leave policies), and six paid holidays annually.

This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.


Work Location & Employment Type

  • Onsite work location: 600 Richards Run, Burlington, NJ. This role does not qualify for remote work.
  • Employment type: Contract / Full time (training program may include internship-style development depending on assignment).
