Manager Trainee

What You’ll Do
Under general supervision, you will be trained to manage a small driver count and/or non-traditional shifts (including nights and weekends) to ensure safe, timely movement of freight, accurate load assignment, and excellent customer service. Key responsibilities include:
- Learn to build and maintain professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to support onboarding, reduce turnover, and maximize productivity
- Support fleet operations and stepping in for absent personnel or on special projects to improve profitability and efficiency
- Assist with personnel management tasks including driver orientation, training, and support with internal and customer systems
- Support metrics tracking and reporting: measure KPIs, prepare customer-specific reports, and participate in financial analysis
- Learn inventory, asset, and driver assignment management to balance equipment and schedules in market
- Assist with administrative duties such as payroll support, Net-Revenue budget tracking, driver counseling documentation, accident reviews, invoicing, and P&L analysis
- Help manage yard operations (inspections, minor part replacements, coordinating maintenance) to maintain safety and equipment readiness
- Work with drivers, customers, and internal teams to resolve service, routing, mechanical, and pay-related issues in real time, including on-call support when required
- Support the company safety culture: share safety communications, participate in driver briefings/training, and help enforce DOT and company policies
- Learn to assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight movement to deliver safe, on-time service and manage freight exceptions and ETAs
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience
- Willingness to work across multiple shifts (including nights and weekends) when required
- Willingness to travel to customer, account, and company events as needed
- Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment

Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated pay: $70,208 per year (estimated). Actual starting pay may vary based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications.
- May be eligible for annual bonus and incentive plans based on profitability or volumes, as applicable.
- Benefits for full-time roles (subject to eligibility): medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, short- and long-term disability, paid time off (vacation & sick), six weeks paid maternity leave plus two weeks paid parental leave, and six paid holidays annually.
