Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring Machine Design Engineers at entry through senior/lead levels for design roles based in Cascade, MI (serving the greater Grand Rapids area). Work on custom automation, machinery, process equipment, assembly systems, fixtures, and material handling equipment for long-term, direct-hire positions.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop custom machinery, automation equipment, assembly systems, fixtures, and material handling systems.
• Take mechanical concepts from concept through completion: 3D modeling, assemblies, detailed drawings, and bills of materials.
• Select and size mechanical components (motors, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics).
• Collaborate closely with Controls Engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and project management to ensure manufacturability and successful start-up.
• Review customer specifications and requirements; provide engineering support during build, testing, installation, and start-up.
• Senior/lead roles may lead projects and mentor junior designers and detailers.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience designing custom machinery, automation equipment, process equipment, or material handling systems.
• Strong 3D CAD skills — SolidWorks preferred; Inventor, Creo/ProE, or AutoCAD also considered.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred — equivalent hands‑on machine design experience accepted.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.
• Candidates at entry, mid, and senior/lead levels are encouraged to apply.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $75,000–$130,000 annually (position- and experience-dependent).
• Direct-hire, permanent opportunities.
