What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Local Government Auditor to join the Audit Practice Division supporting independent external financial and compliance audits of local governments. This role helps determine the reliability of client financial statements and compliance with legal and federal requirements.

  • Document, test, and evaluate internal controls
  • Perform legal compliance testing
  • Perform federal grant and compliance testing
  • Analyze transactions and financial activities
  • Test accuracy and determine data reliability
  • Document audit evidence clearly in work papers
  • Develop audit findings and support report preparation
  • Participate in client interviews and on-site testing (travel up to 10%)

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, you must meet one of the following from an accredited college or university by December 31, 2026:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 24 semester hours of accounting at the intermediate or advanced level, or
  • Master’s degree in Accountancy or Finance with at least 24 semester hours of accounting at the intermediate or advanced level

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful completion of some or all parts of the CPA exam
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher in accounting courses and overall
  • Auditing or audit internship experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel emphasis)
  • Strong written communication skills

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $26.12 – $37.91 per hour ($54,538 – $79,156 annually)
  • Classified, Exempt — Professional

Work Location & Schedule

  • Authoritative location: Saint Paul, MN (hybrid/telework eligible)
  • Telework eligible; after an initial in-office training period, you are expected to report to the St. Paul office or an assigned client location at least one day per week
  • Work shift: Day shift
  • Typical schedule: Monday–Thursday or Monday–Friday
  • Start date: approximately January 11, 2027
  • Interviews: held in person in Saint Paul, MN

Additional Requirements & Notes

  • Travel: Up to 10% of the time for on-site client work
  • Physical requirements: occasional transport of items under 10 pounds; ability to move through work space and remain stationary as needed
  • Offer contingent on successful background check (may include reference checks, criminal background check, and driver history check)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship (e.g., H‑1B sponsorship not provided)
