What You’ll Do
This public‑sector role supports self‑represented court patrons at the Daley Center (RJDC) and other court facilities. You will:
- Greet and assist court patrons, including individuals with literacy challenges, physical limitations, or language barriers
- Answer routine questions about court paperwork, filings, and procedures before and after court appearances
- Distribute helper documents and explain basic next steps for common matters
- Facilitate technology connections for self‑represented litigants (e.g., Zoom hearings, access to Illinois Legal Aid Online) using public terminals
- Coordinate with Domestic Relations Division staff on interdivisional EOP hearings and other cross‑divisional matters
- Provide referrals and link patrons to community resources, court advocacy, and legal aid services available at the RJDC
- Maintain clear, professional records of visitor interactions and escalate complex legal questions to appropriate court staff or supervisors
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong customer service and verbal communication skills
- Comfort using computers, telephones, and public‑facing technology daily
- Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally reach for supplies or equipment
- Ability to work with diverse populations with patience and cultural sensitivity
Preferred / Strongly Preferred
- Experience and demonstrated understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience assisting self‑represented litigants or working in court, legal aid, or social services settings
- Completion of a 40‑hour training program as specified by the Presiding Judge (must be completed before or within 12 weeks of hire)
Compensation & Schedule
- Entry level: $66,665 (as listed)
- Estimated annual salary: $84,599 (estimated)
