Position Overview

Confidential Client is hiring entry-level Actuarial Assistants for a rotational, permanent program based in the greater New York area. This rotational program is designed to build a strong technical foundation across actuarial teams (Biometric Research, Corporate Actuarial, Pricing and related groups) while supporting progress toward professional exam goals (ASA/FSA path). Rotations will provide exposure to modeling, experience studies, pricing work and cross-functional projects that develop both technical and client-facing skills.


What You’ll Do

  • Participate in a structured rotational program across actuarial teams in the life/reinsurance space.
  • Support experience studies and mortality/persistency analyses for Biometric Research.
  • Build, validate, and maintain actuarial models used for reserving, pricing, and financial analysis.
  • Prepare and present analyses to internal stakeholders; contribute to assumption setting and reporting.
  • Assist with quoting, pricing, and profitability analyses for new and existing business.
  • Work with large datasets; document methods and results with attention to accuracy and reproducibility.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and learn industry best practices for actuarial work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Risk Management, or a closely related field; in good academic standing.
  • Completion of at least two actuarial exams with clear progress toward the ASA designation.
  • At least one relevant internship or co-op experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including formal and informal presentation ability.
  • Client-service orientation and ability to build productive professional relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality work under deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities: curiosity, integrity, clear thinking, and drive.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.

Preferred Skills

  • Programming experience (Python, VBA, Java, C/C++, C#, or similar).
  • Familiarity with actuarial systems such as GGY AXIS.
  • Experience with actuarial or financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of life insurance products and industry dynamics.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range for this New York City location: $86,000 - $115,000 plus opportunity for an annual company bonus (percentage of eligible pay).

  • Candidates must be willing to relocate to the greater New York area to meet the hybrid requirement.
