Launch Support Engineer
The Launch Support Engineer is responsible for representing the customer's voice within the assembly plant and driving quality improvements by managing KPIs, resolving warranty and quality issues, and leading cross-functional teams. This role involves close collaboration with process and quality teams to ensure product design intent and manufacturing standards are met, with authority to escalate critical product issues to maintain vehicle quality and safety. The position is entry-level, suited for candidates with an engineering background and a passion for hands-on problem solving in a high-intensity automotive manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do
This is a 12-month contract launch support role based in Toledo, OH supporting vehicle assembly and post-launch quality activities for a Confidential Client in the automotive manufacturing industry. You will work on the plant floor with cross-functional teams to protect product design intent, resolve warranty and quality issues, and drive corrective actions.
- Represent the “voice of the customer” on the assembly floor and escalations
- Monitor and support external quality KPIs; drive corrective actions to meet targets
- Review warranty / Customer Quality Insight claims daily; maintain stratification and Warranty Wall ownership for assigned area
- Troubleshoot and resolve systemic or major quality events (Top Warranty, Recalls, RSU, CSN)
- Lead and participate in root-cause investigations; use problem‑solving tools and FMEA/risk assessments
- Coordinate with Process Quality, Plant PIM/PRM, and Process Engineers to implement and maintain control plans
- Map and trend defects to prevent escapes (PFS/MCV) and support containment actions (yard holds, PRIs)
- Support cross-functional teams through launches and product/process changes (PERs, IAAs, CNs, station change management)
- Communicate status and present technical findings to all levels, from production staff to senior leadership
Requirements
- 1+ years of related experience (entry-level candidates and recent graduates encouraged)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related engineering degree (or equivalent experience)
- Comfortable spending time on the shop floor and understanding build processes from a 4M1D perspective (man, method, machine, material, design)
- Proficient with Microsoft and Google applications; able to perform data analysis to identify top issues and trends
- Familiarity with problem‑solving methodologies and tools; experience with FMEA is a plus
- Strong presentation and communication skills; able to present findings to a range of stakeholders
- Self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects in a high-intensity environment
- Coaching and teaching ability to upskill hourly teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in an engineering discipline
- Reactive Green Belt / Black Belt certification
- Prior experience in product engineering, vehicle integration/development, or launch support at a Tier 1 supplier or OEM
- Manufacturing or quality experience in vehicle/component assembly plants
- Demonstrated experience resolving complex issues including root-cause analysis and implementing repairs
Compensation & Employment Details
- Pay rate: $25.00 to $27.58 per hour (contract). Possible extension or direct-hire conversion for the right candidate.
- Position type: 12-month contract (CONTRACTOR). On-site in Toledo, OH.
- Location: Toledo, OH (must be able to work on-site and spend significant time on the shop floor)
