Lakes Technician
The Lakes Technician supports the management and stewardship of lakes within the Confidential Client by assisting in fisheries management, aquatic vegetation and algae control, water quality monitoring, and lake maintenance. This role involves operating motorized equipment and boats, conducting chemical and biological analyses, applying aquatic herbicides, and collaborating with community groups while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Lake Ecology & Water Quality Manager, you will support management, maintenance, monitoring, and stewardship of multiple recreational lakes for a confidential client. Key responsibilities include:
- Operate and maintain motorized equipment and vehicles, including boats, trucks, and trailers; safely back and maneuver trailers.
- Load, unload, transport, and secure boats, equipment, materials, and heavy supplies.
- Assist with routine lake testing and monitoring for chemical, physical, and biological analyses.
- Conduct lake-management activities and projects as assigned.
- Apply aquatic herbicides and approved chemicals following all laws, permits, and safety procedures.
- Assist with fisheries and biological sampling to support stocking and management decisions.
- Support fertilization program testing and implementation.
- Participate in annual electrofishing activities when directed and in compliance with state scientific collection permits.
- Coordinate with community groups and clubs as assigned.
- Maintain knowledge of lake rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Operate POA or personal vehicles when conducting authorized business and comply with all safety and environmental regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
To perform this role successfully and safely, candidates typically must have:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in fisheries science, aquatic ecology, or a closely related field preferred but not required.
- One year or more of entry-level experience in lake/fisheries management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a pesticide applicator license within one year.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity; ability to take fine and accurate measurements.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
- Must be able to follow federal, state, and local regulations and organizational policies.

Certificates, Licenses & Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age to satisfy insurance requirements for driving a company vehicle.
- Ability to obtain required permits and pesticide applicator license within 12 months of hire.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, use hands, talk, and hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; heavier lifts may require a team lift.
- Work includes outdoor exposure to all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) and moderate to loud noise environments.
- Tasks may require bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and precise vision.
- Safety awareness and adherence to PPE and environmental procedures are required.
