What You’ll Do

This position is open to external candidates. As a LabWare Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Developer within the Analytical Actinide Chemistry team, you will work with subject-matter experts to develop hardware and software solutions supporting analytical chemistry operations across multiple nuclear research facilities. You will investigate, design, document, and implement software solutions; collaborate with the LIMS team lead, other developers, project managers, and end users to understand requirements and deliver solutions; and contribute to process improvements and team mentoring.

This role may be filled at one of two levels depending on the selected candidate’s skills:

LabWare LIMS Developer 1 (Computing Systems Professional 1) — Typical responsibilities include:

  • Ability to learn and adapt new LIMS concepts and methods for continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical support and assist in designing solutions for computing infrastructure that supports analytical chemistry teams.
  • Participate in research, design, testing, verification, and validation of engineering and technology solutions.
  • Develop technical approaches within defined practices and make technical decisions for assigned work.
  • Design, develop, test, and validate LabWare coding and configuration to meet user needs and project scope.
  • Contribute to project milestones and programmatic objectives.
  • Configure and develop LabWare LIMS in accordance with software quality assurance and regulatory requirements.

LabWare LIMS Developer 2 (Computing Systems Professional 2) — In addition to Level 1 responsibilities, this level is expected to:

  • Serve as a primary technical interface with group management and project representatives.
  • Operate with greater autonomy and design more complex solutions.
  • Identify and assess risks and develop corrective or improvement processes.
  • Understand and apply quality assurance requirements for internal and external audits.

Compensation

LabWare LIMS Developer 1: $72,800 - $115,400 per year (range provided by the client)
LabWare LIMS Developer 2: $87,800 - $143,000 per year (range provided by the client)

Note: While a broad salary band is posted, hiring level and starting salary depend on experience and qualifications. Selected candidates commonly grow into the full range over time.


What You Need

Minimum job requirements — Level 1:

  • Some LabWare LIMS / ELN development and configuration experience or other database knowledge preferred.
  • Some coding experience.
  • Ability to learn, apply, and troubleshoot LIMS elements as part of a team.
  • Strong documentation practices to maintain traceable quality records.
  • Demonstrated collaborative team behavior.

Additional requirements for LabWare LIMS Developer 2:

  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex LIMS functions and database platforms.
  • Experience creating databases and installing/maintaining LabWare LIMS software.
  • Experience automating instrument-to-LIMS communication links and troubleshooting integrations.
  • 2+ years of LabWare LIMS experience including at minimum completion of LabWare LIMS Admin 1 training, or equivalent training/3+ years of LabWare configuration development.

Education / experience:

  • Lower level: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (STEM preferred).
  • Higher level: Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus a minimum of four years related experience, or equivalent combination (STEM preferred).

Desired qualifications:

  • Background or experience in analytical chemistry or other highly regulated laboratory environments.
  • Database familiarity and coding experience (SQL, BASIC, HTML).
  • Experience with Batch or PowerShell scripting.
  • Strong LabWare LIMS development background and instrument integration experience.
  • Familiarity with agile/scrum methodologies.
  • Experience working under QA and regulatory standards.
  • Active Q clearance is a plus (see Clearance requirements section).

Work Environment & Location

This position will be located in White Rock, New Mexico with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement (partially onsite/partially offsite) from a location within a 2-hour ground commute. Periodic onsite reporting is required. Hybrid work is at management discretion and may change with appropriate notice.


Clearance & Additional Requirements

  • This position requires eligibility for a Q clearance. Obtaining such clearance generally requires U.S. citizenship. Selected applicants will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Due to federal restrictions, certain foreign nationals may be prohibited from accessing facilities that support national security laboratory missions. The client will follow applicable federal law and agency directives.
  • Employment may be subject to additional directives or program-specific suitability determinations.
  • New-hire drug testing is required. Federal rules apply: marijuana remains prohibited under federal law and a positive test may result in termination even if state law differs.
