Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Gas & Hydrocarbon Testing) for a contract, onsite role in Torrance, CA. This position provides laboratory support for gas and hydrocarbon liquid testing while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and laboratory procedures. Typical shifts are fully onsite at the Torrance laboratory.

What You’ll Do

The Laboratory Technician will:

• Receive, log, and track samples in the LIMS.
• Perform analytical testing using Gas Chromatography (GC) and other standardized methods (RVP, molecular weight, density, distillation).
• Follow ASTM, GPA, and other standardized test methods and SOPs.
• Record and report test results accurately to customers and internal teams; communicate findings by phone/email when required.
• Conduct routine equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Assist with cylinder cleaning, preparation, shipping, and general lab housekeeping.
• Adhere to laboratory safety, quality, environmental, and ethics procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience.
• Experience with GC (Gas Chromatography) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to follow SOPs and standardized test methods.
• Strong documentation, recordkeeping, and data-entry skills (experience with LIMS is a plus).
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, safety-focused lab environment.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience in hydrocarbon, petroleum, chemical, energy, environmental, or testing laboratories.
• Familiarity with ASTM and GPA test methods.
• Experience with HPLC, QC/QMS practices, or other analytical instrumentation.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour (hourly range reflects the information provided by the hiring client).
• Benefits (if eligible for this temporary assignment) may include: medical, dental & vision; 401(k); HSA; life and disability options; employee assistance program; transportation benefits; and paid time off policies where applicable.
• Final hourly rate within the posted range will be based on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
