Laboratory Technician

What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level laboratory technician role supporting andrology/endocrinology services in a fertility laboratory environment. You will follow established protocol manuals under indirect supervision and support IVF and related laboratory workflows.
- Perform sperm preparation for IUI and IVF using sterile technique
- Handle sperm cryopreservation, storage, and thawing procedures
- Process epididymal/testicular sperm for IVF cases
- Operate and maintain endocrine analyzers and other lab equipment
- Perform QC on media, instruments, and disposable materials
- Prepare, aliquot and portion culture media using aseptic technique
- Accurately record and report laboratory results; maintain chain-of-custody
- Maintain inventory and organize supplies across laboratory areas (andrology, endocrine, IVF)
- Participate in proficiency testing and quality improvement initiatives
- Assist with equipment troubleshooting and coordinate repairs when needed (including occasional after-hours response)
- Support onboarding and training of new lab staff as requested
- Serve as liaison between the laboratory and clinical teams to ensure accurate communication and continuous improvement
- Perform general IVF and medical assistant duties as needed
- Maintain clean, organized lab spaces and documentation (electronic and paper) at all times
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Medical Technology, MLT, or related field; “B” average or higher in laboratory science courses preferred
- Andrology experience is beneficial; on-site training may be provided and expected to be completed successfully during probationary period
- Comfortable with laboratory instrumentation and troubleshooting; no fear of technology
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, email, internet)
- Ability to follow SOPs, maintain accurate records, and work under indirect supervision
- Must complete on-the-job training within the introductory period (extensions possible) and finish any required certification exams within one year of hire
- Must provide copies of degrees, certifications, training and transcripts for personnel file
Immunization & Compliance
- Must meet the client’s immunization requirements (e.g., TB test, annual influenza vaccine, and other vaccines as required)
- Follow all laboratory safety, infection control, and HIPAA/confidentiality policies
