What You’ll Do

This entry-level laboratory role supports analytical testing groups (GC, LC, GC-MS, LC-MS) and helps generate accurate, defensible data under the direction of a Group Leader. Work safely with samples, reagents, and lab equipment in a regulated testing environment.

• Prepare samples for analysis
• Determine and record sample volumes
• Clean and maintain laboratory glassware and work areas
• Prepare reagents for in-lab use and shipment
• Perform sample extractions and basic sample preparation workflows
• Maintain organized records of sample preparation and analysis
• Assist with inventorying consumables, chemicals, and instrument parts
• Work safely with chemicals, glassware, and tobacco/nicotine products
• Follow quality assurance and health & safety procedures
• Remain flexible to shifting priorities and support the team as needed

Who You Are (Qualifications)

Candidates who succeed in this role are detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a lab that performs testing on tobacco- and aerosol-related products.

• Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or Career Studies Certificate in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
• Prior laboratory experience is helpful but not required — this is an entry-level position
• Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and general lab practices
• Strong organizational skills and clear written/verbal communication
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable handling chemicals and following strict safety protocols

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Familiarity with analytical methods or instrumentation (GC, LC, GC-MS, LC-MS) is a plus
• Experience maintaining lab records and inventory systems
• Good time-management and ability to handle multiple tasks

Compensation & Benefits

• Expected hourly rate: $20.00–$22.00 per hour (starting pay within this range is based on qualifications and experience)
• Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) — provided by the client
• This role is based at the client’s Richmond, VA laboratory (on-site)
