What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level Laboratory Technician I role on the Oligo Synthesis team supporting oligonucleotide production, QC, and order fulfillment. Responsibilities include:
- Receive and sort incoming orders using established workflows
- Create synthesis runs and process oligo synthesis orders
- Independently operate lab equipment such as pipettes, automated liquid handlers, spectrophotometers, mass spectrometers, and centrifuges
- Perform QC workflows and accurate record keeping per SOPs
- Prepare, package, and restock orders and lab supplies for shipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area
- Follow all safety procedures and handling requirements for chemical reagents and glassware
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring
Minimum and preferred qualifications, skills, and behaviors:
- High school diploma required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or similar) preferred
- At least ~6 months of experience in a laboratory or strong desire to work in a fast-paced lab environment preferred
- Familiarity or willingness to learn pipetting and automated liquid handling systems
- Experience with UV spectrophotometers and/or mass spectrometers preferred but not required
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams)
- Ability to work well in a team and follow written SOPs precisely
- Willingness to learn and support expanding processes and volumes
Schedule & Location
- Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM EST
- Worksite: Indianapolis, IN (on-site)
Compensation
- Posted pay range: $16.50 - $20.50 per hour
- The posted range is an estimate based on market data and internal pay structure. Final pay will depend on experience, education, qualifications, and geographic location.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Reaching, bending, and use of step stools or ladders as needed
- Extended periods standing or sitting while operating lab equipment and computers
- Regular use of personal protective equipment (lab coat, safety glasses, gloves)
- Work performed in areas that may contain hazardous chemicals
- May require minor use of hand tools to adjust instrument settings
