What You’ll Do
The Confidential Client is seeking a Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/MT/CLS) for an evening shift in Microbiology. You will perform high-complexity laboratory testing, maintain quality systems, support accreditation, and deliver timely results to clinical teams.
- Perform laboratory tests according to established procedures and protocols.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and validate laboratory equipment.
- Perform and document quality control and follow quality assurance guidelines.
- Process biological specimens, and perform specimen collection and phlebotomy where applicable.
- Assist in training and educating laboratory staff, students, and residents.
- Maintain laboratory supplies and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with accrediting bodies (e.g., CAP, The Joint Commission) and internal policies.
- Support periodic on-call or emergency coverage as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (BSCLS) from an accredited program OR a Bachelor’s degree in a Biological Science plus graduation from an NAACLS-accredited CLS/MT certificate program; OR a Bachelor’s degree in a Biological Science with 5+ years of relevant on-the-job hospital lab training performing high-complexity testing.
- Required certification: Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by ASCP, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by NCA or AMT, or equivalent ASCP categorical certification.
- New MLS graduates hired upon graduation must obtain certification within 6 months of graduation.
- Experience: Entry-level candidates who meet the education/certification requirements are welcome; prior MLS/MT experience is preferred.
- Ability to work rotating weekends, holidays, and evening shifts; availability for on-call coverage as needed.
Preferred / Additional Credentials
- Master’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (MSCLS) is preferred.
- ASCP categorical certifications in microbiology or related disciplines are a plus.
- Ongoing credential maintenance (CE hours) as required by certifying bodies.

- Strong laboratory technique and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of microbiology testing methods and instrumentation.
- Ability to follow and document QC/QA procedures.
- Effective communication and customer service for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks safely.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a clinical laboratory setting. May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials; universal precautions and PPE required.
- Possible exposure to chemicals, moving mechanical parts, dust/fumes, and varying noise levels.
- Physical demands include lifting/carrying (up to 50 lbs. commonly), pushing/pulling, standing/walking for extended periods, stooping, kneeling, and manual dexterity tasks.
- Visual/color acuity, hearing, and the ability to respond to alarms/telephones are required.
- Must be able to handle periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads.
Schedule & Compensation
- Shift: Evenings (full-time).
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Estimated compensation: $59,248 per year (estimated).
- Incentive: $7,500 sign‑on bonus for offers accepted by August 31, 2026. Terms and conditions apply.
