What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Per Diem/PRN Clinical Lab Technician to support molecular front-end / pre-analytical operations at a South San Francisco laboratory. This is a hands-on role focused on specimen processing and sample preparation in a high-throughput clinical environment.

• Perform specimen receiving and accurate data entry in the laboratory information system (LIS)
• Operate and maintain instrumentation used in pre-analytical and molecular workflows
• Record equipment daily readings, complete function checks, and perform basic preventative maintenance
• Complete QA documentation and follow SOPs for sample handling
• Prepare samples including aliquoting, beading, lysing, and molecular extraction techniques
• Inventory control and supply management for assigned areas
• Practice aseptic/sterile techniques and follow infection control policies
• Communicate effectively with Molecular Lab, R&D, Client Services, and Pharma project managers
• May assist in drafting or updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Schedule & Location

• Position type: Per Diem / PRN (casual)
• Typical hours (as-needed): Thursday–Sunday, variable start/end times between 6:00 AM and 2:30 PM

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology

Preferred Qualifications

• ≥ 1 year lab experience, preferably in clinical diagnostics
• ≥ 1 year experience with molecular biology techniques and molecular extraction workflows
• Familiarity with clinical laboratory instrumentation and LIS data entry

Additional Job Standards & Skills

• Understanding of aseptic techniques and proper specimen handling
• Experience with SOPs, QA and QC standards
• Strong computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent organizational and written/oral communication skills
• Able to work collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities
• Flexibility to work varied hours during initial training
• Ability to pass a standardized color-blindness test

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $28.39 - $35.00 per hour
• Job offers will be based on skills, relevant experience, degrees/certifications, internal equity and market data.
• Benefits (for employees regularly scheduled to work 20+ hours/week): Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), PTO/FTO, Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Casual/part-time employees have limited benefit eligibility (401(k) participation).
