What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Lab Technician to support clinical DNA specimen testing in a high-volume laboratory. You will work on a team using manual and automated methods, follow established SOPs, and maintain accurate records to support diagnostic testing.

  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, record-keeping, and result reporting
  • Perform routine quality control, document QC activities, calibrations, reagent prep, and instrument maintenance
  • Identify problems that may affect test performance, take authorized corrective actions, and notify supervisors
  • Detect out-of-range test performance and document corrective actions and proficiency-testing procedures
  • Meet or exceed target workloads with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, laboratory science, or a chemistry/physical/biological science required and must meet CLIA, CAP, and New York State CLEP personnel standards criteria
  • Prior laboratory experience preferred but not required — training is provided for entry-level candidates
  • Strong mathematical, computer, reasoning, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment and follow detailed procedures
  • Willingness to work alternate shifts (Morning, Midday, Evening), including possible weekends; shift differentials provided for Midday, Evening, and weekend hours

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Occasionally required to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasional lifting/moving up to 10 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include color vision

Work Environment

  • Possible contact with water (hand washing and cleaning), biohazardous body fluids, and hazardous chemicals
  • Moderate noise level with potential interruptions
  • Extended periods of stationary computer work
  • Work performed in a regulated clinical laboratory following safety and compliance rules

Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay Transparency (budgeted range): $23—$24 USD per hour
  • Shift options: Morning, Midday, Evening; may include weekends
  • Shift differentials provided for Midday, Evening, and all weekend shifts
  • Employment Type: Full-time
