What You’ll Do
This is an onsite, contract Lab Technician role supporting a paint/refinish color-matching laboratory in Delaware, OH. You will prepare, mix, and spray paint samples to support formulation and quality evaluation, maintain accurate records, and follow strict safety and quality procedures.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare color samples for evaluation and formulation to support the refinish color‑matching team.
- Mix wet paint according to detailed formulations and recipes provided by the color matcher.
- Dispense, measure, and label samples accurately; maintain organized documentation.
- Collect wet paint samples from mixing stations and spray samples per predefined specifications.
- Operate and adjust spray equipment to achieve consistent, repeatable finishes.
- Maintain and clean laboratory areas and equipment to ensure a safe, organized workspace.
- Report equipment issues or quality deviations promptly.
- Follow all lab procedures, safety protocols, and PPE/respirator requirements.
Who You Are (Essential Skills)
- Experience in a laboratory, production, or hands‑on environment — wet chemistry, paint, pigments, or coatings preferred.
- Comfortable following detailed formulations, recipes, and written instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail for dispensing, labeling, and sample documentation.
- Able to work on your feet in a fast‑paced environment and balance mixing and spraying tasks.
- Commitment to safety, including consistent use of required PPE and respirators.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. and meet export‑control eligibility requirements.
Nice to Have (Additional Qualifications)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field preferred.
- Coursework or hands‑on experience in wet chemistry.
- Prior experience working with paint, pigments, coatings, or color matching.
- Stable work history and demonstrated ability to maintain consistent performance in production settings.
- Team player who can adapt to changing production demands.
Work Environment
- First-shift schedule, typically 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday–Friday.
- Fully onsite at a plant laboratory in Delaware, OH.
- Fast‑paced, production-focused lab where PPE and safety procedures are mandatory. Safety shoes required; other PPE is provided. Candidates must be clean‑shaven where required for proper respirator fit on day one.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $20.00 per hour (contract).
- If eligible, benefits for this temporary role may include medical, dental & vision; voluntary life/AD&D; short/long‑term disability; 401(k); HSA; and other programs. Eligibility and availability depend on job classification and length of assignment.
