Position Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Lab Specimen Coordinator to support clinical research and laboratory operations in Manhattan, NY. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire, 100% onsite role that offers hands-on specimen handling, shipping coordination, and documentation support for research studies.


What You’ll Do

  • Review and follow laboratory manuals and study protocols
  • Prepare, package, and ship blood and other research specimens in compliance with regulations
  • Coordinate shipments and maintain chain-of-custody and compliance standards
  • Create and maintain shipping manifests and study documentation
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of samples, labels, and associated paperwork
  • Support study teams with documentation requests, tracking, and query resolution
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of laboratory records and specimen data
  • Communicate professionally with internal teams and external couriers

Required & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1–2 years of research, laboratory, or specimen coordination experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with laboratory technology and tracking systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (business-professional email)
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, team environment

Schedule, Compensation & Logistics

  • Location: Manhattan, NY — 100% onsite
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday
  • Shift options: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM or 11:00 AM–7:00 PM
  • Duration: 6-month contract-to-hire
  • Pay: $29.00 per hour

(Confidential Client will provide details about benefits and full-time conversion if/when the role transitions to permanent status.)

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to follow regulated study protocols and laboratory SOPs
  • Comfortable preparing and packaging biological specimens for shipment
  • Basic quality-assurance mindset for labels, paperwork, and sample integrity
  • Good time management and ability to prioritize competing requests
