What You’ll Do

The Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Lab Assistant to support daily operations in a clinical scientific & QA laboratory. You will help keep the lab running smoothly by preparing reagents, maintaining inventory, supporting specimen handling, and assisting with basic equipment care.

  • Assist with receiving, accessioning, and organizing specimens per laboratory procedures
  • Prepare, aliquot, and label routine reagents (buffers, working solutions) with dates, lot numbers, and preparer initials
  • Refill and stock commonly used supplies (e.g., RNase Away, bleach, DI water) and replenish workstation materials
  • Receive, unpack, organize, and properly store laboratory shipments and consumables
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with ordering supplies
  • Clean, reset, and organize laboratory work areas to support efficient daily operations
  • Assist with routine equipment cleaning and preventive maintenance
  • Dispose of laboratory and chemical waste following biosafety and chemical hygiene rules
  • Support kit assembly, sample packaging, and shipment preparation as needed
  • Maintain documentation related to reagent preparation, inventory, and assigned tasks
  • Follow established SOPs and comply with CAP, CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and laboratory safety requirements
  • Participate in required training, competency assessments, and team meetings
  • Work collaboratively with laboratory technologists and other staff; perform other support duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Technology, or related scientific field
  • Previous laboratory experience preferred but not required
  • Basic understanding of laboratory safety and biosafety practices
  • Ability to accurately follow written instructions and SOPs
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Dependable, professional, and eager to learn
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Technology, or related field
  • Experience in clinical, research, healthcare, or academic laboratory settings
  • Hands-on experience with reagent preparation, pipetting, inventory management, or specimen handling

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Work performed in a clinical laboratory environment
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout lab and office areas
  • Frequently required to use laboratory equipment and standard office equipment
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand movements (pipetting, reagent prep)
  • Occasionally required to bend, reach, kneel, and lift
  • Regular exposure to biological specimens, laboratory chemicals, and cleaning agents
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and follow chemical hygiene procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and in writing

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay range: $22.00 to $25.00 per hour (range depends on education, experience, and qualifications)
