What You’ll Do

This entry-level Lab Assistant role supports a stand-alone hospital laboratory operated by our Confidential Client. You will assist laboratory and clinical staff with specimen intake, data entry, sample preparation, and point-of-care molecular testing (COVID-19 / Flu / Strep). Work is hands-on and requires attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to follow laboratory standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Register, receive, and track patient specimens accurately.
• Enter specimen and patient data into laboratory information systems.
• Prepare and process samples for further testing and transport specimens to other departments or external labs.
• Perform molecular testing workflows for COVID-19, influenza, and strep per protocols.
• Answer phones, provide customer service to patients and clinical staff, and assist with training as needed.
• Maintain compliance with laboratory regulations and safety procedures.
• Contribute ideas for process improvement and support a teamwork-focused lab culture.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous work experience required (healthcare or lab experience strongly preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Clear communication skills and a teamwork mentality.
• Comfortable learning new laboratory processes and adapting to a growing test menu.

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Health Science, or related field preferred.

Compensation

• Estimated pay: $32,583 per year (estimated figure provided by the source). Actual pay offered by the Confidential Client may vary based on experience, qualifications, and local requirements.

• Location: Halyoke, MA (onsite).
• Employment type: Full-time.
• This position involves in-person laboratory work and may require standing, specimen handling, and occasional lifting in line with lab safety guidelines.
