What You’ll Do

As a Laboratory Analyst I (entry-level), you will support routine laboratory operations under supervision to ensure accurate, timely results and maintain quality systems.

  • Prepare basic standards and reagents following SOPs.
  • Set up, load, and run instruments for routine analyses with guidance.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and procedures under supervision.
  • Assist with investigation tests as part of training and development.
  • Complete accurate laboratory documentation and data entry.
  • Track sample progress to ensure timely processing and reporting.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of instruments with oversight.
  • Support senior analysts and supervisors in daily lab workflows.
  • Follow safety protocols, maintain a clean work area, and use required PPE.
  • Participate in training to build technical skills and quality-system knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of laboratory experience (entry-level welcome).
  • Basic understanding of laboratory techniques, instruments, and SOP-driven workflows.
  • Ability to read and follow written procedures and work instructions precisely.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and work safely in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay rate: $18–$22 / hour DOE.
  • Employment type: Full-time.
  • Location: Rapid City / Pactola Lake area, South Dakota (onsite).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate lab instruments and computer systems.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to work in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and environmental samples while using appropriate PPE.
