Job Summary

The Laboratory Analyst I is an entry-level laboratory role supporting routine testing and day-to-day lab operations under supervision. You will prepare reagents and standards, load and maintain instruments, process samples, and record results following standard operating procedures (SOPs). This is a skills-building position ideal for candidates with a relevant degree and up to two years of lab experience who want hands-on experience in a scientific/QA lab environment in Decatur, AL.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare basic standards, reagents, and consumables following SOPs with attention to safety and accuracy.
• Set up, load, and operate routine laboratory instruments with guidance.
• Perform basic analytical tests and sample processing under supervision.
• Complete and maintain accurate laboratory documentation and logs.
• Track sample progress to ensure timely processing and reporting.
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of instruments with oversight.
• Support senior analysts and lab supervisors in daily operations and special projects.
• Participate in on-the-job training to build technical expertise and understanding of quality systems.
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Compensation

• Starting pay: $18.50 per hour (hourly rate as listed).
• Estimated annual compensation (for full-time) shown on job board: approximately $50,700 per year — actual pay may vary with hours and experience.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field.
• 0–2 years of laboratory experience; internships or academic lab experience count.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity to operate instruments and computer systems.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with laboratory chemicals and environmental samples while using appropriate PPE.
