What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and deploy full‑stack features across web and community platforms, owning work from specification through production.
  • Build responsive, accessible (a11y) front‑end experiences using modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) along with HTML5, CSS3, and TypeScript.
  • Develop scalable back‑end services and RESTful APIs using server‑side technologies (Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java, etc.).
  • Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to design schemas, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity.
  • Implement cloud‑based solutions and deployments (AWS/GCP/Azure), CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and orchestration as needed.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well‑tested code (unit/integration/end‑to‑end tests) and participate in code reviews and engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and debug across the full application stack; monitor and optimize performance, scalability, and security.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and data teams to translate user needs into technical solutions and iterate quickly.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and proactively recommend improvements to support long‑term impact and reliability.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of professional full‑stack software engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency across front‑end and back‑end development.
  • Front‑end experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred), HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
  • Back‑end experience with one or more server‑side languages (Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java) and building RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with relational (Postgres, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB), and data modeling best practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), CI/CD tooling, containerization (Docker), and automation.
  • Practical knowledge of web security best practices (OWASP), performance optimization, and observability/monitoring tools.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, self‑starter mentality, and ability to drive projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Alignment with the mission of a mission‑driven, impact‑focused organization and commitment to inclusive product design.
  • Authorization to work in the United States required.

Preferred (not required):

  • Experience with TypeScript, GraphQL, serverless architectures, Kubernetes, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Prior work at consumer‑facing or community platforms, or supporting regulated programs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $150,000 – $175,000 (based on experience, skills, and qualifications).
  • Performance Bonus: Up to 15% of base salary annually.

  • Work Location: San Francisco, CA — hybrid schedule (three days in office per week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday; remote flexibility other days). Onsite schedule begins September 2026.
