What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Full-Time Juvenile Intake Officer to support juvenile court intake operations in Decatur, GA. This role processes intake for delinquency, dependency, or other youth-in-need matters, evaluates jurisdiction and charges, conducts interviews, documents cases, and coordinates next steps with judicial and community partners.
- Process and evaluate complaints and charges involving juveniles; confirm jurisdiction and determine appropriate case actions
- Conduct intake interviews; collect and record case intake data, school records, and family social history
- Prepare clear, detailed legal documents, reports, and case files for review by the court, Judge, and District Attorney
- Perform and document drug screenings and, when necessary, transport juveniles securely and professionally
- Manage and authorize placement into detention or protective custody (24-hour basis) and ensure timely hearings
- Confer with law enforcement, make judicial probable-cause determinations for delinquent cases, and authorize emergency medical treatment when required
- Make referrals for counseling, community service, tutoring, mentoring, and work-readiness training
- Recommend case dispositions and next steps to the Lead Intake Officer and other stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Social Work, or a related field required OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- This classification is considered entry-level professional; prior related experience is preferred
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license
- Ability to pass background checks required for work with juvenile populations and court systems (consistent with applicable law)
Compensation & Employment Type
- Employment type: Full-Time
- Hourly pay range (provided by Confidential Client): $23.26 – $37.44 per hour
- Estimated annual pay (for reference): ~$51,131 per year (actual pay depends on hours worked and step placement)
- Benefits: Confidential Client offers benefits consistent with public-sector administrative roles (health, retirement, leave); specific benefits will be communicated by the hiring organization during the process.
Work Location & Hours
- Primary work location: Decatur, GA (Decatur, Georgia)
- This role may require flexible hours to respond to intake needs, including availability for on-call or 24-hour detention/placement decisions depending on department policies
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
