Summary

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Test Engineer to support research, development, test, and evaluation of security systems and technologies for federal transportation security missions. This role is based in State Farm, VA and requires strong communication skills, the ability to work in both lab and field environments, and eligibility for U.S. security credentials.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist senior engineers with test planning, execution methodology, data collection, reduction, analysis, and technical report writing
  • Work with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), vendors, and stakeholders to support capability development across the technology lifecycle
  • Apply technical knowledge across disciplines (non-intrusive inspection, physical security, command & control integration, human factors, operations research, statistics, and engineering)
  • Support engineering design reviews and contribute to cross-functional team efforts
  • Support quality assurance activities consistent with ISO 9001 principles
  • Prepare documentation, reports, and presentations using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or Physics from an accredited institution
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and comfort interacting directly with clients and stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively on a team
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
  • Must be a sole U.S. citizen and eligible/willing to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance and TSA Security Suitability

Preferred

  • Current, active DOD Secret Security Clearance
  • Current TSA Security Suitability
  • Experience testing or evaluating Transportation Security Equipment (TSE) for TSA
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $65,300 — $93,000 per year (base). Actual pay is determined by experience, education, skills, and location.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with employer contributions, tuition assistance, paid time off, and flexible/hybrid work options.
  • Flexible compressed work schedule and hybrid model (role-dependent).

Location & Travel

  • Primary work location: State Farm, VA (on-site and field work as required).
  • Up to 25% travel may be required.

Security & Safety

  • This role requires sole U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance and TSA Security Suitability. Preference given to candidates with current active clearances.
