Role overview

Confidential Client is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Staff Accountant to join their finance team in Sherman Oaks, CA. This entry-level, on-site role supports loan accounting operations — preparing journal entries, reconciling loan and financing transactions, and helping with month-end and quarter-end close. This is a full-time position with hands-on exposure to loan servicing and financial reporting in an Accounting & Finance environment.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist with preparation of daily journal entries for the loan accounting department.
  • Reconcile daily loans, cash, and debt transactions; identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Respond to internal and external audit requests and provide supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with business users and technology teammates to implement sustainable accounting solutions.
  • Follow and help strengthen accounting controls and documented processes.
  • Perform other accounting tasks and ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience (loan accounting or financial reporting experience preferred).
  • Basic understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups) and experience with accounting software (Sage Intacct or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience with loan accounting, mortgage lending processes, or loan servicing.
  • Sage Intacct experience.
  • Hands-on exposure to audit requests and reconciliations in a financial services setting.

Compensation & Location

  • Compensation range: $24.00/hour – $31.00/hour.
  • Location: On-site in Sherman Oaks, CA (this role is not remote).
  • Employment type: Full-time.
