Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring an entry-level Junior Software Engineer / Data / BI Analyst based in Tempe, AZ. This role is designed for early-career candidates or career-switchers who have foundational programming or data skills (Java, Python, BI, or related). The position is full-time and offers a salary range of $78,000 - $127,000 per year.

What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is looking for motivated candidates who will:

• Support software development and data/BI work across client projects
• Assist in building, testing, and deploying components in Java and/or Python stacks
• Help prepare and transform data for analysis and reporting (ETL/SQL)
• Create and maintain dashboards and BI reports to support business stakeholders
• Debug issues, write unit tests, and document solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and follow best practices for code reviews and version control

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or equivalent experience — recent graduates welcome
• Basic programming experience in Java or Python (academic projects, bootcamp, or self-study)
• Familiarity with SQL and data querying
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and eagerness to learn production-grade systems
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in small teams

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) or dashboarding
• Exposure to data engineering concepts (ETL, data pipelines)
• Familiarity with version control (Git), unit testing, and CI/CD basics
• Coursework or projects in machine learning, data analysis, or DevOps fundamentals
• Internship or project experience showing applied programming or analytics work

• Primary location: Tempe, AZ (on-site or hybrid as defined by the Confidential Client). Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
