Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Junior Software Engineer for a hybrid, full-time position based in Olathe, KS. This is an entry-level role ideal for candidates with 0–2 years of software engineering, reporting, or technical support experience who want hands-on experience developing and supporting web applications, reports, and data workflows. Salary: $75,000/year (listed).


What You’ll Do

  • Create, maintain, and enhance standard and ad-hoc reports to support business and operational needs.
  • Validate data accuracy and completeness across reports and systems.
  • Troubleshoot report discrepancies and assist with root-cause analysis.
  • Support existing web applications with minor enhancements, bug fixes, and configuration updates.
  • Assist with routine system maintenance and basic issue resolution; escalate complex issues with clear documentation.
  • Contribute code to existing applications under guidance and follow established coding standards.
  • Participate in testing activities including unit and regression testing.
  • Attend Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and translate requirements into tasks.
  • Document report logic, data sources, and usage guidelines.

Who You Are (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
  • 0–2 years experience in software engineering, reporting, or technical/IT support roles.
  • Hands-on exposure to modern development languages and front-end frameworks such as:
    • Java, JavaScript, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Thymeleaf
    • .NET or Go
    • React or Angular, plus HTML/CSS
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams (QA, Product, Senior Engineers).
  • Strong attention to detail, curiosity about data accuracy, and willingness to learn.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with reporting tools and data validation techniques.
  • Basic experience with unit testing and regression testing.
  • Prior exposure to Agile development practices.

Work Location & Schedule

  • Hybrid schedule at the Confidential Client headquarters in Olathe, KS. Typical hours are full-time, Monday–Friday with flexible start/end times around core office availability. Occasional travel for meetings or workshops may be required.
