Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Junior Software Engineer to join a hybrid IT team based in Olathe, KS. This entry-level, full-time role focuses on reporting, data accuracy, system support, and foundational software development. The position offers a hybrid schedule (headquarters at 18000 W 105th St., Olathe, KS 66061) with flexible hours around core office availability Monday–Friday. Salary: $75,000 per year (estimated).


What You’ll Do

  • Create, maintain, and enhance standard and ad-hoc reports to support business and operational needs.
  • Validate data accuracy and completeness across reports and systems.
  • Assist in troubleshooting report discrepancies and documenting findings.
  • Support existing web applications with minor enhancements, bug fixes, and configuration updates.
  • Assist with routine system maintenance, monitoring, and basic issue resolution.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers with clear documentation and analysis.
  • Contribute code to existing applications under guidance, following established standards and best practices.
  • Participate in testing activities (unit testing, regression testing) and Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives).
  • Review and analyze requirements and translate them into well-defined technical tasks.

Who You Are / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
  • 0–2 years of experience in a software engineering, reporting, or technical support role.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams (Product, QA, Ops).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience with one or more modern development languages and front-end technologies, for example:
    • Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Thymeleaf
    • .NET, Go
    • JavaScript, React, Angular, HTML, CSS
  • Familiarity with basic testing practices and source control (e.g., unit tests, Git).
  • Experience or interest in reporting tools, data validation, and troubleshooting data issues.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with enterprise reporting or BI tools.
  • Prior exposure to Agile software delivery practices.
  • Internship or co-op experience in software development or technical support.

Location & Schedule

  • Location: Olathe, KS — hybrid schedule with regular time on-site at the Olathe headquarters and occasional travel for meetings or workshops.
  • Employment type: Full-time, permanent.
