Junior Software Engineer
The Junior Software Engineer at Confidential Client will work on AI Development Experience projects, building and improving internal tools and workflows using TypeScript, Node.js, and React.js. The role involves collaborating with experienced engineers, using AI coding tools daily, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a fast-evolving environment.

What You’ll Do
You’ll join a team that rapidly integrates new AI models and coding tools into real production projects. Day-to-day work includes:
- Build and improve internal developer tools and workflows that make shipping with AI practical and safe.
- Implement services and UIs primarily using TypeScript and Node.js, with React.js on the front end.
- Use AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) daily — apply judgment and verify outputs before committing.
- Own code end-to-end: design, implement, test, and maintain what you ship.
- Work with senior engineers on tough problems and gradually take on client-facing responsibilities, explaining technical trade-offs to both engineers and non-engineers.
- Contribute to codebase hygiene: reuse existing patterns, flag security issues, and document important assumptions.
Qualifications
We’re hiring for potential and demonstrated craftsmanship rather than a specific pedigree. Typical traits and skills that succeed here:
- Comfortable building with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js.
- Familiarity with React (or demonstrated ability to learn modern front-end frameworks quickly).
- Hands-on experience using AI coding tools and an understanding of their failure modes.
- A track record of building things independently — side projects, scripts, or shipped features you can talk about.
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to explain your work in meetings.
- Resourceful problem-solver: asks the right questions, documents assumptions, and raises blockers promptly.
- Comfortable with fast-changing requirements and shifting priorities.
- Open to diverse educational backgrounds (CS degree, bootcamp, self-taught, internships are all fine).
Interview Process
We keep interviews practical and focused on real work:
- A 30-minute video call to discuss your background and for you to learn about Confidential Client and consulting work.
- One longer interview (~1 hour 45 minutes) with two engineers: walk through a project you’ve built, a system-design discussion, and an agentic programming exercise on a small codebase (we’ll share it the day before). No algorithm puzzles.
Compensation & Benefits
- $110,000 base salary + uncapped commission
- Liberal vacation time
- Healthcare coverage
- Collaborative, experienced coworkers and mentorship
