Position Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Junior Software Engineer to join a consulting team supporting software development engagements across the United States. This is a full-time (W2) role based in New Jersey (NJ). Candidates should be early-career developers or recent graduates with a strong programming foundation and a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced consulting environment. Paid training in Atlanta, GA is required (candidates must be willing to relocate temporarily for training).


What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain reliable, scalable software applications.
  • Write clean, efficient, reusable, and maintainable code following best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineers, QA, business analysts, and other cross-functional teams across the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs, backend services, and software components.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve defects and performance issues.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality and development standards.
  • Work with relational databases and write SQL queries to support application functionality.
  • Use Git (or similar) for source control and participate in CI/CD and deployment activities.
  • Follow Agile/Scrum methodologies and attend sprint planning, stand-ups, and related ceremonies.
  • Travel or relocate as required for client engagements across the U.S.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, OR equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–4 years of professional experience in software development, programming, or a related technical role.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, C++, Kotlin, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP), data structures, algorithms, and core software development fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and client-server architecture.
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience (or familiarity) with Git or other version control systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to relocate to Atlanta, GA for the paid training program and travel or relocate as required for client engagements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, academic, or personal projects demonstrating software development experience.
  • Familiarity with frameworks and libraries such as Spring Boot, .NET, React, Angular, Django, or Flask.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
  • Basic understanding of DevOps concepts, CI/CD, and automated testing.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix-based systems.
  • Previous work with microservices, APIs, or distributed systems is a plus.
  • Experience using Agile/Scrum in team settings.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $35.00/hr - $40.00/hr (as provided by Confidential Client). Actual pay will be based on skills and experience.
  • Inferred benefits: 401(k), tuition assistance, medical and dental insurance (benefits dependent on client policy).
  • Paid training program in Atlanta, GA; relocation assistance and travel expectations will be discussed during recruiting.

  • Primary location: New Jersey (NJ), United States.
  • Paid training in Atlanta, GA — candidates must be willing to relocate temporarily for the training program.
  • Travel or relocation for client projects may be required across the U.S.
