What You’ll Do

This is an early-career software engineering role supporting mission-critical defense programs. You'll contribute to full-stack and embedded-adjacent software used for analysis, mission planning, simulation, and components of real-time systems.

• Assist with design and implementation of full‑stack and embedded-adjacent software architecture for missile-system applications (guidance, navigation, control, telemetry, mission planning).
• Write, integrate, test, and troubleshoot software components across desktop, embedded-adjacent, and simulation environments.
• Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews, and peer-led validation to maintain high quality and compliance.
• Support flight test operations and post-test analysis; help instrument, capture, and interpret test data.
• Implement software that emphasizes modularity, portability, reusability, maintainability, and security (including RMF-related practices).
• Support decisions on tools, frameworks, CI/CD, and software configuration management.
• Communicate frequently and directly with cross-functional engineering teams and stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree with overall GPA of 3.0+.
• 2+ years of relevant technical experience developing, integrating, testing, or troubleshooting embedded software or embedded‑adjacent applications that interface with or simulate embedded systems.
• Demonstrable experience with C/C++ (required).
• Experience with Python or Java.
• Understanding of software architecture patterns, design principles, and software quality engineering concepts.
• Experience with software configuration management principles and tools.
• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
• Must be a resident of, or willing to relocate to, the Huntsville—North Alabama area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with embedded missile systems, aerospace, or weapons‑system development.
• Familiarity with real‑time embedded systems and guidance/navigation/control algorithms.
• Knowledge of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles.
• Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices.
• Knowledge of mission planning systems (e.g., NOMS, JMPS) and relevant sensors.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for algorithm development and simulation.
• Strong systems‑level thinking, hardware–software integration experience, and strong problem‑solving skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range (provided by our client): $69,550 — $125,725 (annual). Actual compensation will depend on experience, skills, and internal alignment.

Location & Clearance

• Location: Huntsville, AL (on-site / local to North Alabama).
• Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance. U.S. citizenship required.
