Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join its on-site engineering team in Glen Burnie, MD. This is an on-site, full-time position supporting defense-focused software systems. U.S. citizenship and an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph are required.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems including analytics, algorithm development, and systems handling very large datasets.
- Work individually and collaboratively on cross-functional teams to deliver reliable software.
- Review, test, and document software components to ensure adherence to design and requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software problem reports in a timely manner.
- Apply appropriate software development and design methodologies for the environment.
- Provide input to system design decisions including hardware/software tradeoffs, reuse vs new development, and component-level requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph required.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college/university OR four (4) years of software engineering experience may be substituted for a degree.
- Entry-level candidates are welcome; demonstrated professional experience is not strictly required if education/experience equivalency is met.
- Willingness and ability to work on-site in Glen Burnie, MD.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with one or more programming languages: Java, C#, C++, JavaScript, Python, Scala, Ruby, Go.
- Familiarity with IDEs such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, PyCharm, Visual Studio, or VS Code.
- Comfortable on Windows, Unix, Linux, or macOS development platforms.
- Experience with team collaboration and issue tracking tools (JIRA/Confluence, GitHub, ServiceNow).
- Familiarity with frameworks like Spring, Angular, Bootstrap.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB).
- Knowledge of build and CI tools such as Maven and Jenkins.
- Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Version control and configuration management experience (Git, SVN).
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
Security Clearance & Eligibility
- Active Top Secret/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph is required prior to hire.
- Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to maintain required security eligibility throughout employment.
