What You’ll Do

The Confidential Client is hiring a Junior Software Engineer to contribute across the software development lifecycle for business systems that support construction materials, plant operations, and field services. This is an onsite/hybrid role based in Brewster, NY with opportunities to learn cloud technologies, integrations, and automation.

  • Contribute to development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of web and backend services that support business operations.
  • Translate business requirements into working code in collaboration with senior engineers and stakeholders.
  • Produce high-quality, maintainable code and technical documentation that follow team standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues to improve reliability and user experience.
  • Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support integrations between internal systems, cloud platforms, and third-party services.
  • Provide occasional production support to ensure continuity of critical business systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • ~0–2 years of software development experience (work, internships, co-ops, academic or personal projects).
  • Foundational understanding of object-oriented programming and software development principles.
  • Experience with at least one modern programming language: C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and basic SQL / database design concepts.
  • Exposure to source control (Git) and basic software testing/debugging techniques.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) and apply new tools to business problems.
  • Ability to travel up to ~5% by car to regional offices across NY and New England.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Practical exposure to Azure, AWS or Google Cloud services (either coursework, projects, or prior roles).
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools or frameworks used to accelerate development and testing.
  • Experience or interest in IoT, industrial automation, or PLC systems (useful for field integration work).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), or RESTful API design.

Location & Compensation

  • Location: Brewster, NY — Onsite / Hybrid (team expects some on-site collaboration).
  • Travel: Up to 5% (regional visits).
  • Pay Range (NY pay-transparency): $68,000 – $76,000 per year (base). Exact pay offered will consider experience and local laws.
