Role Overview
Junior Software Development Engineer in Boston, MA — Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring an entry-level engineer to join a collaborative engineering team. This role is ideal for recent CS/Engineering graduates, career switchers with foundational technical skills, or candidates with limited professional experience who are ready to work on real projects and accelerate their software careers.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to full‑stack development tasks: write, test, and maintain code (backend and frontend) for production applications
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and cross-functional team meetings
- Troubleshoot and debug defects; propose and implement fixes
- Collaborate with senior engineers and product owners to deliver features on schedule
- Write and maintain clear documentation and unit/integration tests
- Learn and adopt best practices for CI/CD, version control, and agile development
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related field — or equivalent practical experience
- Familiarity with one or more languages: Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js or browser frameworks)
- Basic knowledge of web technologies (HTTP, REST APIs, HTML/CSS) and relational databases (SQL)
- Experience with version control (Git) and basic testing principles
- Strong problem-solving mindset and clear written/verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn, accept feedback, and grow technical skills quickly
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Internship or project experience with full‑stack applications
- Exposure to frameworks like Spring, React, Angular, Django, or Flask
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Interest in data engineering, machine learning, or DevOps practices
Compensation & Employment Type
- Salary: $82,000 - $136,000 per year
