Role Overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking entry-level Junior Software Developers with cloud exposure to join engineering teams based in Manhattan, NY. This role is ideal for recent CS/Engineering graduates, career changers, or candidates with limited professional experience who can demonstrate practical Java (or Python) fundamentals, basic cloud knowledge, and problem-solving ability.
What You’ll Do
As a Junior Software Developer you will:
- Work on backend and full‑stack tasks using Core Java and related frameworks
- Build and consume REST APIs and interact with relational databases (SQL)
- Use version control (Git) and collaborate in small, cross-functional teams
- Contribute to cloud-enabled features and deployments (basic AWS or equivalent)
- Participate in code reviews, debugging, and writing unit tests
- Explain technical decisions and walk through coding problems during interviews and team reviews
What We’re Looking For (Required)
- Recent graduates or early-career developers with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or comparable training
- Practical knowledge of Core Java or Python
- Familiarity with Spring Boot (or comparable web frameworks), REST APIs, and SQL
- Basic cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) or strong willingness to learn cloud fundamentals
- Comfortable using Git for source control
- Ability to solve and communicate solutions to data-structures & algorithms problems out loud
- Strong problem-solving mindset and clear communication skills
Nice to Have
- Hands-on project experience (school, bootcamp, open-source, or personal projects) you can defend in technical interviews
- Experience or interest in full-stack development, DevOps basics, or data-related roles
- Preparation or certifications in Oracle/AWS (beneficial but not required)
