What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a junior-level engineer with interests across software development and data science. This role helps rebuild hands-on technical experience through real projects and collaboration with senior engineers and data practitioners.

  • Work on full-stack or data-focused projects depending on track (software dev or data science)
  • Build, test, and maintain code in languages such as Python and/or Java
  • Assist with data collection, ETL, and basic modeling for analytics or ML prototypes
  • Contribute to CI/CD, cloud deployments, or DevOps tasks where applicable
  • Collaborate in Agile sprints; participate in code reviews and team knowledge-sharing
  • Produce small-scale project deliverables that demonstrate current, relevant skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 0–3 years professional experience (junior / entry-level)
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (Python or Java preferred)
  • Basic understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development lifecycle
  • Comfortable with version control (Git) and collaborative workflows
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn and follow technical guidance

Nice-to-Have / Preferred

  • Coursework or project experience in data analysis, machine learning, or statistics
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or container tooling (Docker)
  • Experience with web frameworks, REST APIs, or basic front-end work
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and automated builds
  • Internship, bootcamp, or portfolio projects that demonstrate recent practical work

Compensation & Work Location

  • Salary range: $78,000 — $136,000 per year (base). This range is provided by the client and reflects the expected range for this role in Portland, OR.
  • Job type: Full-time
  • Location: Portland, OR — Telecommute / remote-eligible (telecommute). Local candidates preferred for occasional onsite collaboration as required.
  • Candidates should be able to discuss work-authorization or eligibility during the process.
