What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level/backend-focused role for candidates who want to grow practical Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-ready development skills while contributing to production systems.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot backend services using Core Java and Spring Boot.
- Implement and document REST APIs; design service interfaces and data contracts.
- Contribute to microservice development and integration with other systems.
- Write unit and integration tests (JUnit or similar) and participate in test-first workflows.
- Use Git for version control; participate in pull requests and code reviews.
- Debug and resolve bugs, profile applications, and suggest performance improvements.
- Work with teammates to deploy and monitor applications in AWS or other cloud environments.
- Learn application architecture, deployment patterns, and operational considerations for cloud-ready apps.
What We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- 0–2 years of professional experience (internships, coursework, personal projects count).
- Solid understanding of Core Java (OOP, collections, basic concurrency).
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot (building controllers, services, configuration).
- Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and HTTP fundamentals.
- Basic SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
- Experience using Git for source control.
- Basic testing skills (unit tests, integration tests).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and a willingness to learn in a team environment.
Nice to Have (Preferred Skills)
- Experience or coursework with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda) or deployed cloud applications.
- Familiarity with microservices patterns, Docker, and containerization.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
- Some frontend or full-stack exposure (HTML, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Experience with Agile practices and tracking tools (JIRA, Trello).
Location & Compensation
- Based in Atlanta, GA — candidates located in or able to work in the Atlanta area are preferred.
- Estimated salary: $153,722 per year (estimated). Actual offer will depend on experience and local laws.
