What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a growth-oriented Junior Security Specialist (Incident Response). You will support the Information Security team in incident response, vulnerability scanning, monitoring, and basic security operations while learning from senior analysts.

• Support incident response efforts: gather data, assist with triage, and help manage tickets.
• Assist with system event triage and non-conformance tracking.
• Run and document internal and external vulnerability scans.
• Coordinate remediation with system owners and IT staff.
• Monitor security tools and escalate alerts to senior staff as needed.
• Participate in security awareness activities (phishing simulations, training coordination).
• Help maintain documentation for policies, procedures, and standards.
• Collaborate with IT and compliance teams to support risk management and regulatory requirements.
• Stay current on cybersecurity trends through training and research.

Additional Duties

• Assist with account access reviews and basic IAM tasks.
• Support endpoint protection efforts (monitoring, updating security software).
• Participate in tabletop exercises and team training sessions.
• Document un-remediated vulnerabilities in the risk registry under guidance.
• Other information security duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity-related roles.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Entry-level certification preferred (e.g., CompTIA Security+, GIAC GSEC, Microsoft SC-900).
• Basic understanding of network devices, operating systems, and security principles.
• Clear written documentation skills and the ability to follow procedures.
• Strong communication, teamwork, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated desire to learn and grow in cybersecurity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to SIEM, EDR, IAM, or MDR platforms.
• Familiarity with NIST, CIS, or ISO security frameworks.
• Experience with cloud environments and mobile device management.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and system monitoring experience.
• Familiarity with penetration-testing tools and the incident response lifecycle.

Location, Compensation & Employment Type

• Location: Ridge, VA (based out of the West Creek office; hybrid schedule — typically in-office 2 days/week after training/probation).
• Compensation: $74,000 - $79,000 annually.
• Employment Type: Full-time (Contractor engagement listed by client).

No relocation assistance is offered.
